Marketisation of adult education in Sweden

The aim of this study is to analyse how formal adult education in Sweden enacted locally. For analysis, the data consist a nationwide survey sent Swedish municipalities, background on municipalities from public statistics and interviews with representatives 20 municipalities. education, which includes general, vocational for immigrants courses, responsibility municipality, but courses are not necessarily organised internally by municipality. results show different ways. There systems outsourcing various other providers, typically private training companies. thus both paid also responsible quality assurance. assurance focus students, via surveys outcomes, measures target providers. characterised extensive marketisation many providers broad supply experiencing problems among some considering extending their internal provision. labour-market where programmes improve adults’ employability prioritised.
